Liverpool failed to extend their leadership on the Premier League table after being held to 1-1 draw by Leicester City in Wendesday's clash at Anfield.

Sadio Mane and Harry Maguire both scored a goal each for either sides to end the game in a stalemate as the Reds maintain the top position with 61 points after 24 matches.

They are five points better than defending champions Manchester City who suffered a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, Arsenal capitalised on Chelsea's struggles as they replace the Blues on the fourth position having defeated Cardiff City 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Maurizio Sarri's men were hammered 4-0 by mid-table side Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium- a defeat which pushed them one step down on the log.

However, they share the same points with the Gunners but the north Londoners are better on goals difference.

Tottenham Hotspur closed the gap on City after coming back from one goal down to beat Watford 2-1 at the Wembley Stadium.

Spurs are now just two points behind the Citizens as they head into match-day 25 this weekend across all ten centers.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United are sixth on the log with two points behind fifth place Chelsea, and 16 points shy of table toppers Liverpool at the moment.

Meanwhile, Southampton, Burnley, Cardiff City, Fulham and Huddersfield Town are currently battling relegation.

The Saints and the Clarets both have 23 points while the remaining three have less than 20 points after 24 matches.
