Bayern Munich confirm signing Pavard ahead of Liverpool, Man Utd

Bayern Munich director of football, Hasan Salihamidzic on Wednesday confirmed the signing of VfB Stuttgart defender, Benjamin Pavard, ahead of Manchester United and Liverpool.

The defender will join Bayern on a five-year deal after they activated his €35m (£31m) release clause.

The 22-year-old starred for France at the World Cup finals in the summer, playing at right-back for Didier Deschamps' side as they triumphed in Russia.

His strike in the knockout game against Argentina was named the goal of the tournament.

"I can confirm that the player will be joining the team on the 1st of July," Calciomercato quoted Salihamidzic as saying.

"He has signed a five-year deal".

Manchester United, Liverpool, and also Napoli had been linked with signing the France full-back who is going to join the Bavarians in the summer transfer window.

Pavard's versatility had attracted the Azzurri who are looking for a center-back and a full-back, two roles that Pavard can definitely cover.

Salihamidzic also confirmed Bayern Munich's interest in Chelsea's starlet, Callum Hudson-Odoi. "He is an interesting player. He is young and with pace. He can adapt to our style of play and we are following him," he said.
