Rooney names the manager he wants Man United to appoint on permanent basis

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has enjoined the management of the club to hire Argentine football coach Mauricio Pochettino as the club's next permanent manager.

Jose Mourinho was recently sacked by Manchester United chief, and he has been replaced with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who began his reign as manager on a winning note.

But there have been reports that Manchester United chiefs are planning to appoint a permanent coach at the end of the season with Frenchman Zinedine Zidane linked with the job.

Rooney was in Cardiff on Saturday on punditry duty, and despite been impressed with the start of Solskjaer at United, he does not want him to be given permanent appointment.

Asked who he wants to be the next permanent manager of United - Solskjaer, Zinedine Zidane or Pochettino - Rooney replied simply: 'Poch.'

Michael Owen and Danny Gabbidon, who were also in the studio, both agreed that Pochettino was the number one man for the job.

Manchester United are occupying sixth position on the Premier League standings with 29 points after 18 games played so far this season.
