Jose Mourinho set to raid former club and sign highly rated Brazilian star for Man United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly leading the chase to Porto defender Eder Militao during the January transfer window.

The Portuguese tactician is hoping to use his relationship with the Dragons to lure the 20-year-old Brazil international to Old Trafford.

Reports coming out of United revealed that Mourinho tried signing a center back in August but the club's chiefs refused to back him up on the move.

Though, United progressed through to the Champions League round of 16 stage, their performance in the Premier League isn't very convincing.

And Daily Star reports that the former Chelsea boss is hoping to fix that problem this winter as competitions get heated up towards the end of the season.

Mourinho's men travel to Anfield on Sunday evening to battle Liverpool who are yet to taste defeat in the EPL this term.

But they will have to win that crunch clash to contend for the title with the likes of Man City currently sitting atop of the table.

However, the United chief is keen to ensure the manager lands a new centre-back when the January transfer window rolls around.

According to UOL Esporte, the player Mourinho is desperate to land is Porto defender who will cost United about £45 million.

The Red Devils were said to have sent their representatives to watch the player in their 4-1 winners over Portimonense.

Meanwhile, the star is also wanted by fellow EPL sides Everton and Chelsea, according to the Brazilian report.

However, the Blues would have to overcome differences with Joorabchian and Militao's other representatives Giuliano Bertolucci and Jorge Ulisses to secure a deal.

Militao is already a regular at Porto, despite his inexperience at the top level in Portugal.

United boss Mourinho has reportedly told Woodward to sell up to four players in order to fund his lavish January plans.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United have concluded plans to sell Paul Pogba when the January transfer window opens.

The World Cup winning midfielder has not been in good terms with his manager Jose Mourinho which has been affecting his performances on the pitch.

He was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona immediately after returning from Russia in the summer but the deal was botched.
