Juventus star Ronaldo accepts fraud charges and gets court date

Spanish court has reportedly instructed Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo to appear in court on Monday 14 January 2019.

The 33-year-old was accused of evading tax to the tunes of €14.7 million during his reign in the La Liga according to Spanish news outlet AS.

Ronaldo spent nine seasons at Real Madrid and won four Champions Leagues, two La Ligas and several other collective and individual awards.

The Portuguese international is expected to plead guilty to four count charge when he appears in court next month.

And will accept a two-year prison sentence but will not serve because he is a first offender under Spanish law.

The 33-year-old has already paid off the treasury fine of an estimated €19 million - including a bulk payment of €13.4 million in August, according to reports.

Meanwhile, since he completed his move from Real Madrid to Juve this summer, the Portugal international has scored 16 goals in all competitions for the Old Lady.
