Super Sand Eagles lose to Senegal in final of 2018 AFCON beach soccer

Nigeria's Sand Eagles were humbled 6-1 by Senegal in the final game of the 2018 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt on Friday, December 14.

The encounter saw Senegal defend the trophy they won in Lagos in 2016 and will fly Africa's flag at the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay as African champions.

During the one sided final match at El Sheikh, Egypt, the Sand Eagles played catch up as their West African foes continued from where they left off after defeating Nigeria in the opening game of the tournament.

In each of the four quarters, the Sand Eagles could not curtail the more experienced Senegalese, scoring once from two opportunities created.

Senegal on their part had six chances and scored from the six shots on target to end scores at 6-1.

In the third place match, the host Egypt defeated Morocco 3 - 2 to pick the third ticket for the 2019 Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay.
