UEFA may force Chelsea to close part of Stamford Bridge in the Europa League if it finds the club's fans guilty of antisemitism.
Chelsea have strongly criticised a group of supporters for singing a derogatory chant about Tottenham featuring anti-Semitic language during the 2-2 draw against MOL Vidi in Budapest on Thursday night.
However, UEFA will decide on Friday whether to open its own disciplinary case.
The European football's governing body's regulations state that if supporters take part in any behaviour which 'insults the human dignity of a person or group of persons on whatever grounds, including skin colour, race, religion or ethnic origin' then the 'club responsible is punished with a minimum of a partial stadium closure'.
Similar cases in the past suggest that Chelsea would have to partially close Stamford Bridge for one Europa League fixture if their fans are found guilty.
Chelsea attacked the 'brainpower' of those fans who 'shamed the club' at the match in Hungary.
The Jewish Leadership Council, Board of Deputies of British Jews and anti-discrimination group Fare supported the club's stance while attacking the perpetrators.
The incident comes just days after alleged racist abuse was directed at Manchester City's Raheem Sterling by a section of home supporters during the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, with four Chelsea fans subsequently suspended.
