Nigeria's Super Falcons dropped one spot, from 38th to 39th, in the latest edition of FIFA Women's World Ranking (WWR), released on Friday, December 7.
According to FIFA's official website, the reigning African Women's Cup of Nations holders, who claimed a record 9th AWCON title in Ghana accumulated 19 points after winning four from five games at the tournament in Ghana.
A further breakdown of the Women's ranking revealed that the Thomas Dernnerby tutored-side had a total 1,607 points to emerge Africa's best team and 39th in the world.
Nigeria's semi-final foes at AWCON Cameroon gained three spots to place second in Africa and 46th in the World, while South Africa's Banyana Banyana who also gained two spots ended the year in third place after emerging runners-up at the biennial AWCON tournament.
The pair of Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire are placed fourth and fifth respectively in Africa respectively.
But Ghana lost three spots to place 68th in the world, while Cote d'Ivoire gained one stop to end the year on 70th spot.
Other African teams that made the top ten in the continent include Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, Algeria, Mali, and Senegal.
In addition, the USA remain the number one women football nation and they are followed by Germany, France, England, and Canada in top five.
Australia, Netherlands, Japan, Sweden and Brazil complete the top ten in the quarterly world ranking.
