Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was conspicuously missing at the 2018 edition of the FIFA The Best awards staged in London, on Monday, November 24.

Real Madrid star Luka Modric won the prize for the first time after beating competition from the Portugal international and Mohamed Salah.

However, Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Ronaldo were missing in action at event where football greats gathered to celebrate the best in the game.

Meanwhile, British actor and producer, Idris Elba, who anchored the show expressed his displeasure towards the stars who failed to send notice about their absence at the event.

He said that: "As you can see there two players who didn't make it, Messi and Ronaldo. Two players we don't know but Ronaldinho will make sure they get their awards"

Modric scored twice and created one assist in seven appearances at the 21st edition of the championship this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo won the 2016 and 2017 editions of the awards after helping Real Madrid win the Champions League back to back and also emerged highest goals scorer on both occasions.
