Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Tuesday night, October 23 sent Manchester United fans a heartwarming message for according him a warm reception during his second return to Old Trafford.
The star forward featured for Juventus in their Group H clash against the Red Devils but failed to score even as the Serie A giants limped to a 1-0 win over United.
Paulo Dybala's first-half strike was the only difference in tie as the Argentine gifted Juve a crucial victory away from home.
After the match, Ronaldo took to his Instagram to express his gratitude towards United fans, further revealing that his return to the turf was emotional.
"An important victory in a very emotional match for me. It was great playing at Old Trafford again," he wrote on his Instagram.
"Thanks to all the fans for the reception and support," he added.
Ronaldo had a decorative career during his six year stay at the Manchester outfit where he won several trophies including three Premier League titles and the Champions League under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson.
This was the 33-year old's second return to Old Trafford since his stunning move to Real Madrid in 2009.
Last summer, the Portuguese ace resolved to challenge himself in the Serie A after sealing a £100m move to Juve.
Meanwhile, United will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday, October 28 in a Premier League encounter.
The Red Devils currently sit nine points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after just nine games.
