Stats reveal Mohamed Salah is the worst striker in the EPL see why

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has emerged the worst finisher in the eight-week old 2018-19 Premier League campaign, despite netting three times, for the Anfield dwellers.
The Egyptian international Salah entered the record books last season, after netting 32 times in 36 league games to become the highest goal-scorer in the history of the Premier League.
A performance that fetched Salah numerous awards that includes the Premier League Golden Boot and also the first player to win three Premier League player of the month awards in the same season.

In addition, Salah's marksmanship in the art of goalscoring, also propelled Liverpool to the 2017/18 Champions League final, where they lost to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Interestingly, since August when hostilities commenced in the EPL, Salah is struggling to replicate the form he showed in the previous campaign.
A breakdown of the statistics so far, show last season's topscorer, has now emerged the worst finisher in the current season.
At the last count, Salah had 32 shots to his name, missed seven but scored three.
A clearer example of the statistics used to determine his proficiency in the opponent's goal area, is termed the expected goal value (xG).

Each Salah's shot during a game is subjected to analysis and handed an xG value depending on obstacles (defenders) he avoided before hitting the shot in question.
The xG determines the probability of a shot that ends up as a goal.
The more a team's xG figure increases, means they have an advantage, to score an actual goal.

Suggesting that squad members could be wasteful or the opposition shot-topper is excellent in his duties or both.
On the other hand, if a team is scoring more than its xG then it is could be as a result of the goalkeeper's mistakes or as striker's brilliance in front of goal.
Currently, the cumulative stats show that Salah has the highest xG in the English topflight with 5.91 expected goals this campaign.
A clear indication the Egyptian has been presented with the most scoring chances this term.
After scoring three times, there is a huge gap between his expected goal value and his actual goals, thus marking him out as the worse striker in the English topflight after eight weeks of action.

It is a long way to end of the season in 2019, and only time will tell, how soon Salah will return to goal-scoring form.
