La Liga champions Barcelona eyeing a January transfer move for highly rated France star

Spanish League champions Barcelona are reportedly planning to launch a bid for Olympique Lyon star Ferland Mendy.
The Catalans were forced to their second straight stalemate by struggling Valencia at the Mestalla last weekend as they bequearth their leadership position to Sevilla after eight La Liga games.
They remain unbeaten in the Champions League having won their first two matches against PSV and Tottenham Hotspur.

Barca have however identified the France international as a good replacement for Jordi Alba, who turns 30 in March, 2018.
Dailymail reports that the Camp Nou have been targeting the player since since he joined his present club in 2017.
According to Mundo Deportivo Barcelona scouts have been watching Mendy, and he is the player in that position who has most impressed them.
Mendy has been superb for the Citizens this season - making nine appearances in all competitions and was instrumental to his side's first UCL win last month.
He has since his arrival to Lyon scored three times in 44 appearances for the Premier League holders.

Alba on the other hand has enjoyed a number of successes since he joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2012.

His current deal with Barca expires in the summer of 2020 and the French youngster has been aimed at increasing competition instead of supplanting the Spain international.
Alba has played 257 times for the Catalan giants, lifted the Champions League in 2015 and has won four league titles.
