Kepa Arrizabalaga reveals advice from David de Gea following Chelsea move

Kepa Arrizabalaga has revealed how advice from Manchester United's David de Gea helped him settle following his summer move to Chelsea.

After spending two successful years in Spain with Athletic Bilbao, Kepa joined Chelsea in August for a world-record fee of £71.6million.

The 24-year-old was signed as Thibaut Courtois' replacement after the Belgian completed a move to Real Madrid just hours earlier.

Kepa has made a promising start to his Chelsea career, helping the club win six of their first eight league games, and says De Gea was quick to offer him advice after he joined the Blues.

'Every player settles into a new league in different ways,' Kepa said. 'David is a team-mate with the national team and we get on really well.

'When I signed for Chelsea, he gave me some advice, telling me a bit about how it was for him when he came here.

'Of course, he has been here for years now and is playing at a fantastic level. We were at the World Cup together and had a good chat about the differences between Spanish and English football.

'It's a good thing to interact with a top goalkeeper who has so much experience in the Premier League.

'You need a little time, the usual sort of time it takes to get to know your team-mates and the league itself, but it's all good generally, I'm very happy.'

Kepa kept another clean sheet on Saturday as Chelsea defeated Southampton 3-0 at St Mary's.

Following the victory, Eden Hazard - who scored the opener - said: 'We are enjoying playing well and scoring goals.

'The first half was not so easy, they missed big chances and then we have had a bit of luck for our first goal, but we controlled the match in the second half.

'I don't know if I've played better [than I am at the minute], I'm just playing good football because we are playing good football.

'I want to keep doing it and keep everyone happy.'

With 20 points, Chelsea are joint-top of the Premier League going into the second international break of the season.
