New Ballon d'Or award announced with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as judges

The pair of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are among the acting judges for the debut edition of the Under-21s Ballon d'Or awards.
According to a UK Sun report, the organizers of the awards France Football will also be introducing a Ballon d'Or for the women's football.

Other football legends expected to act as judges to produce the winner of the "Kopa Trophy" otherwise known as the best Under-21 star, includes the quartet of Denis Law, Michel Platini, Zinedine Zidane and Marco van Basten

On the other hand, the Women's Ballon d'Or will be voted by a jury of journalists that are ground in the women's game.
Interestingly, French World Cup star Kylian Mbappe is leading the race for the award after a decent performance at the 2018 FIFA World cup in France.
The PSG ace ranks highly among the best Under-21s football stars at the moment.

In addition, the trio of Ada Hederberg, Lucy Bronze and Brazil's Marta are in the running for Women's Ballon d'Or.
The list of potential winners for the three awards will be made public on October 8, while the ceremony is expected to hold alongside the original "best player" award on December 3.
