Eden Hazard belives Olivier Giroud is the best target man in world football after the pair combined to dazzling effect in Chelsea's 4-1 win over Cardiff on Saturday.

The Blues recovered from the shock of falling behind to Sol Bamba's early opener to maintain their 100% start to the new season.

Hazard scored twice in a devastating seven-minute spell before the break to turn the game on its head, both goals courtesy of superb link-up play from Giroud, who was making his first start of the season at the expense of Alvaro Morata.

The Spain international has struggled to form the sort of telepathic understanding Hazard appears to share with Giroud, and the 27-year-old believes the former Arsenal man is even better than his prolific Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku.

'He's a target man, maybe the best in the world I think,' said Hazard.

'When he gets the ball he can hold the ball and we can go with him in deep. So for us he is a pleasure to play with.

'When Alvaro is playing it is completely different he is a different type of player both are quality so we are happy to have good strikers.'

On the win which extended Chelsea's winning run to five matches under their new manager Maurizio Sarri, he added: 'The game was very tough.

'We know especially after the break it's hard to play a good game because we are all a bit tired but we got an important three points today.

'After only five games we are doing good, we are confident, so we will see [about a title challenge].'
