Manchester City destroy Fulham at the Etihad as Arsenal record vital away victory

    Leroy Sane set Man City on the path of victory after netting the opener in just 97 seconds, on his return to the side during their Premier League tie against Fulham on Saturday, September 15.

     David Silva made sure City were in the driving seat with the second goal on the 21st minute before Raheem Sterling added the third on the 47th minute of play to claim maximum points for the defending champions.

     The encounter at the Etihad Stadium saw Fulham start brightly, but an excellent interception in midfield by Selcao ace Fernandinho led to a fast counter attack, the Brazilian crossing to the German youngster Sané, who finished off nicely.

   Despite going gown early, Fulham refuse to be intimidated by City's attacking threat and on the 20th minute, they almost benefitted from Schurrle's run but after doing well to find Vietto, he took too long to makes a decision, allowing City defenders to fall back in shape.

   However, on the 21st minute mark after going back and forth, City's David Silva finished off a team move to net his 50th Premier League goal.

      The buildup to the goal was a beauty mixed with a string of passes. Sterling's ball down the right flank found Bernardo, who cleverly keeps the ball on the line before cutting it back to Aguero.

     The Argentine could not get the required touch to his finish, but Silva following in behind takes a touch with his chest before blasting home from close range.
On the 25th minute Schurrle attempted another effort for Fulham but his strike keep rising into the sky and ends up over the crossbar.

     The former Chelsea star Schurrle was on fire again on the 30th minute when he tried to catch Ederson but the Man City keeper was alert to parry the effort behind the crossbar for a corner-kick.

      Man City had other numerous chances to score, but could not convert the opportunities as the two Silvas David and Bernardo continued to pull the strings, for Etihad dwellers.

      In the 40th minute another chance fell for City after Bernardo's flick towards the back post could not find Laporte who was coming in to nod home.

     A minute later, Sane almost netted his second after Silva passed the ball into the German's path but his shot at goal was saved by Bettinelli in Fulham's goal.
At the end of the first 45 minute, two additional minutes was added as City came close to netting third before half time.
     Sterling collected Fernandinho's through pass inside the area, cuts inside past Sessegnon but his effort at goal was saved by the keeper.

      The resulting corner was cleared off to the edge of the box before it was returned back into the middle, where Sane flicks it over the keeper. However, he was adjudged to an offside position.

At blast of the whistle to make the end of the first stanza, Man City lead 2-0 going into the break.

     On the commencement of the second stanza, City netted again threaten with Sane bursting down the left flank before cutting the ball back for Bernardo, but the Portuguese effort from the edge of the box was blocked.

     But on the 47th minute, Man City celebrated their third goal which looked too easy as Aguero picked the ball up in space on the right flank, before connecting Sterling who was waiting to apply the last touch to make it three for the defending champions.

     After the third goal it became a back-to-back affair with City failed to add more despite creating several scoring chances.
In other Premier League game played on Saturday, Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 2-1 at the St James' Park.
