He left Napoli to join Max Allegri's side in the summer of 2016, having enjoyed a wonderful 2015/16 campaign under Maurizio Sarri, scoring 36 goals in just 35 league matches; this total made Higuain Capocannoniere for the season, equalling a goal record set by Gino Rossetti all the way back in 1928/29.

Sarri looks set to be confirmed as Chelsea's new manager, succeeding Antonio Conte, in the next few weeks, and the latest reports claim he will make Higuain his first signing as boss of the Stamford Bridge club.

Sport Mediaset claim Juventus and Chelsea have finally agreed a deal for the transfer of the 30-year-old forward to west London for a fee of around £53million (€60m).

It is claimed that Higuain could be officially announced as a Chelsea player 'immediately after' Sarri is confirmed as the club's manager.

Chelsea are also working on a deal to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, but talks for the centre-back are taking place separate to those for Higuain, with no agreement yet reached between the two clubs.
