Manchester United receive Willian boost as Barcelona insist they will not pursue Chelsea star this summer

Barcelona are not interested in signing Willian from Chelsea this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Willian's has been the subject of intense interest from Manchester Unitedsince Jose Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford with the manager keen on a reunion with his former player.

United saw bids for the Brazil international rejected last summer but their interest persists, with reports suggesting the club could find themselves in a bidding war with Barcelona in the coming weeks.

The La Liga champions were said to have made a £50m offer to try and land the 29-year-old last week.

However, Catalan-based publication Sport insists sources from the club have informed them there has been no such bid.

While the club are admirers of the Brazilian, who shone against them in the first leg of a Champions League last 16 tie between the two clubs in February, they believe they are fully stocked in his position.

Just last summer, Barcelona broke their club record transfer fee to sign Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund, with the France international expected to make the role on the right of Barcelona's attack his own next season after a difficult first year at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona's stance could spare United the hassle of a bidding war for Willian, with Chelsea appearing to line up possible replacements for the former Shakhtar Donetsk star.

CSKA Moscow star Aleksandr Golovin is set to be the subject of a £22m bid while reports also suggest Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic is another target.
