Real Madrid prepare £307m bid to beat Manchester United to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar

Real Madrid are prepared to sanction a world-record transfer bid of over £300million to beat Manchester United to a deal for Neymar, according to The Sun.

Neymar became the most expensive player in history last summer when he moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth almost £200m.

The 26-year-old is already being linked with a move away from the French capital, however, after a season in which he clashed with former boss Unai Emery and fellow forward Edinson Cavani.

In 35 games in all competitions - his season was cut short due to a foot injury - Neymar scored 27 goals, helping PSG storm to the Ligue 1 title.

But he is said to be unhappy in Paris and willing to leave this summer if the right opportunity presents itself.

Last month, reports said Manchester United were lining up a world-record move for Neymar, with Jose Mourinho desperate to bring the attacker to Old Trafford.

But Real Madrid have remained the frontrunners to secure a deal and are ready to obliterate the current transfer record to secure his signature.

It is claimed that, as part of Neymar's move to PSG, a stipulation was included in the deal, allowing him to leave for £263m on September 1, the day after the transfer window closes.

If met, Neymar would be unable to represent another club until 2019. But The Sun say Real do not want to wait until January, hoping to sign Neymar this summer in a deal that will cost over £300m.

Just this week, Luka Modric told Neymar that Real Madrid were 'waiting for him' to move to the Bernabeu.
