Chelsea are preparing to sell Thibaut Courtois and have already made contact with Roma goalkeeper Alisson about replacing him, according to reports in Italy.

Courtois has been stalling over a new contract leaving Chelsea with the dilemma of losing him for nothing next summer when his contract expires or selling him now while they still can.

And now Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that the Blues are finally ready to cash in on Courtois and have made Alisson, who is also wanted by Liverpool, their No.1 target.

It is claimed that Courtois, whose partner and children still live in Spain, has definitively broken off negotiations and wants to leave Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have been suggested as a possible destination, but his preference would be a return to Madrid with Real, who have long been in the market for an upgrade on Keylor Navas.

Chelsea know they can still fetch a significant fee for Courtois and want to reinvest it in Alisson, and have already made contact with the Brazilian.

However, they face significant competition from Liverpool, who have also identified the Brazilian No.1 as the perfect replacement for Loris Karius following his error-filled night in Kiev.

Alisson is ahead of Manchester City star Ederson in the Selecao pecking order and will start between the sticks at the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Roma, however, are adamant that he is not for sale despite a need to comply with Financial Fair Play and will demand a record fee for a goalkeeper in excess of £70million.
