Chamberlain Signing Makes No Sense For Liverpool - Former Liverpool Star Dietmar Hamann Claims

Former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann claims he is struggling to make sense of Jurgen Klopp's decision to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The England international moved to Anfield on deadline day in a £35million move from Arsenal but is yet to force his way into Jurgen Klopp's starting XI.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made a disastrous debut as a substitute in last Saturday's 5-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City and was forced to play as an emergency right-back during the latter stages of Wednesday's Champions League draw against Sevilla following Joe Gomez's red card.

And Hamann, who was part of Liverpool 2005 Champions League winning side, feels Klopp is guilty of assembling a lopsided squad which is going nowhere fast.

Speaking to RTE Sport, the German said: 'On the bench tonight, you had Sturridge, Coutinho and Oxlade-Chamberlain - I'm not sure why he was bought.

'In defence, you have the likes of Moreno and Lovren - I'd have questions marks over these two and Klavan who was a sub tonight.
