Vigilante Member Mistakenly Shoots Motorcyclist Dead in Delta

A member of a vigilante group in Kwale Community in Ndokwa-West local government area of Delta state, (name withheld) in the early Wednesday allegedly shot to death a 27-year-old commercial motorcycle operator simply identified as Rupert. DAILY POST reports.

The incident reportedly occurred while the vigilante member was servicing his gun.

According to an eyewitness, who craved anonymity, the gun which was still loaded with bullets fell off the hands of the vigilante member and discharged; killing the victim, at closed range.

The source added that while the the victim was reeling in pains in the pool of his blood, the vigilante member quickly alerted his team members on the ugly incident.

The other vigilante members dashed to the scene and assisted their colleague as they rushed the victim who hails from Umutu in Ukwuani Local Government Area to a trado-medical centre where he died due to loss of blood.

At the time of filling this report,the Police in Kwale have arrested the vigilante member while body of the deceased has been deposited in a morgue in the area.

The Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, did not pick calls put across to his mobile phone.

It would be recalled that the vigilante in Utagba-Uno arrested a suspected motorbike thief and transferred same to the Vigilante in Kwale who allegedly tortured him(suspect) to death and buried him.

The vigilante in Kwale were arrested by the Police the Court yesterday remanded them in prison custody in Kwale.
