Judge Sends Teenager to Prison Over Alleged Theft of Neighbour's $40

A 16-year old boy, Okam Ogana has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court after he allegedly stole $40 belonging to their neighbour, Mr Debola Ogundeko and escaped.

The incident happened at Praise Estate at Ogudu were the boy's parents lives with the owner of the money, Ogundeko.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Code and was remanded in prison for fact and sentence.

Despite the fact that Okam pleaded guilty, it was gathered that he refused to disclose where he kept the remaining money he had not spent.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect monitored the victim and went into his apartment and stole the money and escaped.

The matter was reported to the State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS at Ikeja who went into investigation and arrested Okam and his elder brother, Onawu.

It was also learnt Okam admitted before that he stole the money but the involvement of Onawu was not disclosed.

The little boy was arraigned with his elder brother, Onawu who was said to have conspired with him to steal the money.

However, Onawu denied and pleaded not guilty before Ikeja Magistrates court where they were arraigned.

The presiding Magistrates. Mr B.O. Osunkanmi granted Onawu bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 7th of September, 2017 when the court will sentence Okam who pleaded guilty and commence trial on Onawu.
