Violence Erupts in Ejigbo After Notorious Cult Leader is Released by Top Politician

For three days, Ejigbo residents have not known peace following the release of a notorious cult leader and suspected armed robber popularly known as 'Arsenal ' by a top politician in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Arsenal was arrested with some of his gang members with about six AK-47 rifles, axes, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons after he allegedly shot a police man as he terrorised the residents.

They were then taken to Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS in Ikeja with the weapons as exhibits for further investigation.

It was gathered that a top politician went and facilitated his release after the SARS operatives were pressurized to charge him to court.

The court reportedly granted him bail and he was released from prison custody this week and since then, violence has fully returned to Ejigbo.

It was confirmed that the residents of Edogboja Street and the adjoining streets in Ejigbo, have started moving out with their families and their properties following three days attack launched by his reinforced group.

The attack on the residents has recorded casualties and many victims sent to the hospital as the group reportedly went out to revenge on targeted enemies who they alleged were behind their arrest.

It was learnt that the Baale in the area and some residents were brutally attacked and disposed of their properties before the Divisional Police Officer, DPO led his team and repelled their attack. Before then, many residents have already moved from the area.

It was also gathered that 'Arsenal' and his group went on the revenge mission and also robbed residents in order to replace their weapons reportedly seized by SARS after they were arrested.

When our correspondent visited the area, the DPO was seen patrolling the area fully armed.

Some other police units, RRS Commander, and Area D Commander, Mushin visited, brought their patrol vans and stationed at strategic positions to repel any attack from the group.

Some of the residents who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS lamented on their predicament in the area and said that some tenants have parked out even when their rents have not expired.

The residents noted that the group had retreated to their enclave in the area popularly known as 'Agbole', where they usually hide and from there launched attack on the residents.
