Justin Calhoun, a 24-year-old stripper allegedly stabbed his boyfriend in the eyes with a pen before forcing a broken piece of wood down his throat.
According to Metro UK, Justin Calhoun told police in Florida that he attacked boyfriend Mark Brann, 67, after accusing him of being a cannibal, according to FL Key News.
Police said Brann responded to the accusations by firing a gun but no one was hit, Calhoun then tried to grab the weapon and allegedly tried to shoot him but the weapon jammed.
Authorities in Key West claim that Calhoun then grabbed a pen and stabbed his partner in both eyes before stamping down on a piece of broken wood she inserted in his mouth.
Mr Brann is now in hospital in Miami in a serious condition.
Calhoun was arrested and faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is keeping Calhoun in the male wing of the Detention Center on Stock Island, but in a private cell because he self-identified as a female when booked,
Calhoun is only taken out of the cell when other inmates are back in theirs, police said.
