The police in Edo State on Friday arrested four persons, including two ex-servicemen, for allegedly posing as men of the Nigerian Army.

According The Punch, the suspects were said to have been sighted in military camouflage belonging to the Nigerian Army when they were arrested.

However, they were said to have run out of luck when they were apprehended by a local vigilante in search of suspected kidnappers Okhuaihe village in Uhunmwonde Local Area of the state.

Southern City News learnt that they were later handed over to the police on the suspicion that they were members of a gang of kidnappers.

The names of the suspects were given as Iyoragie David, Emmanuel Musa, Kingsley Egharevba and Chibuike Nwabali.

David, who claimed to be from Bayelsa State, explained that he had left military school but decided to wear the uniform, even when he knew that it was against military regulation.

He said he and the others were on a visit to a friend in the area when the abduction had taken place before they were arrested.

Another suspect, Emmanuel, said that he used to wear the uniform while driving because he did not return all the military kits when the left the army.

But the Commissioner, Mr. Haliru Gwandu, who paraded the suspects in Benin, said that he would be charged to court after investigation has been concluded.

Gwandu also paraded 43 other suspects for various offences, including kidnapping, cultism and armed robbery in the state.

He added that different arms and ammunition as well as other incriminating items wererecovered from the suspects, following intellig ence gathering and collaboration with communities in the state.
