He had earlier fixed today (Thursday) to deliver judgment on a terrorism charge the Federal Government entered against alleged Boko Haram members.

He would have statutory retired in March 2018, but opted to tender his letter of resignation yesterday, December 6, 2017 on Thursday.

His resignation was contained in a one-paragraph letter received at the Office of the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, on December 7 (Thursday), the letter stated that his retirement took effect from December 6 (Wednesday).

The letter did not disclose the reason for the judge's decision.
