A former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki has been remanded in Kuje prison custody by a federal high court in Abuja on Tuesday. This development is coming 5 days after the same high court granted Turaki bail with two sureties who must be residents of Abuja.

At the court sitting today, which was presided over by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, Turaki was remanded in prison until he was able to meet the conditions attached to the bail granted to him earlier. The politician is standing trial on 32 counts of fraud.

PoliticsNGR learnt that the bail was granted on liberal terms on July 14 by the vacation judge of the High Court, Justice Yusuf Halilu. His bail stands at N500 million with two sureties at N250,000 each. He is also to submit his travel documents to the court.

The ex-governor was arrested by the EFCC on July 4th at a ceremony in Abuja after evading arrest for 6 years.

He was arraigned by the anti-graft commission alongside 3 companies, Arkel construction, INC natural resources Ltd and Wildcat construction Ltd.
