Osinbajo Shifts Deadline Of 2017 N-Power Application By 2 Weeks | Register Here

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has directed the extension of the 2017 N-Power application by two weeks.

The Acting President's directive was made known in a statement issued on Sunday, by Afolabi Imoukhuede, special assistant to the president on job creation.

Before the directive from the Acting President, the N-power application portal was meant to close on July 13, 2017.

But now, the application portal will close on July 27, 2017.

It is understood that the application extension is for only N-Teach, N-Agro and N-Health except N-Power TAX.

Imoukhuede said the selection process for the second batch would be characterised by transparency.

He said about 2.45 million graduates have applied for the second batch of the national social investment programmes (NSIP), which is meant to take 300,000.

In 2016, the Federal Government undertook the largest post-tertiary recruitment exercise in Africa when it engaged 200,000 young Nigerians in the N-Power Volunteer Corps Programme.

The portal which first went live on June 11, 2016 recorded over 400,000 successful registrations with over 35 million hits in just 36 hours.

The first batch of the young Nigerians were deployed to public primary schools, primary healthcare centres and agriculture development project centres.

In February, President Muhammadu Buhari requested appropriation of N157.75 billion in the 2017 budget for the N-Power scheme.

The portal for N-Power to engage additional 300,000 into the 2017/2018 phase was subsequently reopened on June 13.
