Be of good virtues, Ambode tells Muslim pilgrims

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has asked intending Muslim pilgrims in the state to be upright throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.

He enjoined the pilgrims not to derail from moral standards which earned the state an award from the National Hajj Commission in 2015, adding that brotherliness and unity should be the hallmarks of their conducts.

Ambode spoke on Sunday at a one-day seminar for the 2016 intending hajj pilgrims at Agidingbi, Ikeja.

The governor, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, said, "Pilgrims should pay adequate attention to the guiding conduct and obey established laws in the holy land. The standard of courtesies, brotherliness and unity which earned the state an award from NAHCO last year should be sustained."

While wishing the pilgrims a successful hajj and safe return to the state, the Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, urged them to pray for Lagos to continue to be peaceful and thrive in all ramifications.

"I want to congratulate you all and thank God for endowing you with the present leaders in the state who are experienced in performance of hajj exercise. I advise you to follow all laid down procedures and take necessary cautions as you have been told," she added.
