Ahmed elevates eight traditional rulers

The Kwara State Government has elevated eight traditional rulers in the state to first class rulers.

The affected traditional rulers include the Olosi of Osi, Oba Salihu Adasofegbe; Emir of Okuta, Alhaji Abubakar Serobeteseri; Emir of Gwanara, Alhaji Sabi Idris; Olupako of Share, Alhaji Abubakar Adelodun; Olusin of Isanlu-Isin, Oba Solomon Oloyede; Emir of Ilesha Baruba, Prof. Halidu Abubakar; and Emir of Yashikira, Alhaji Usman Sariki.

While presenting the First Class Staff of Office to the eight newly upgraded traditional rulers in the state on Monday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Ahmed charged the royal fathers in the state to educate members of their communities on the current economic situation in the country and the measures the state government had put in place to remedy the situation.

He also urged the traditional rulers as custodians of tradition and culture to continue to support the state government in order to ensure the prosperity of Kwara State residents.

He promised that the delay in the payment of salaries of certain categories of workers in the state would soon be a thing of the past "in the shortest possible time."

He said his optimism was based on the ongoing verification of staff, reform of internal revenue generation mechanism as well as the proposed takeover of junior secondary education's funding.
