Nigeria owes late Shinkafi national honours - Senator Kaura

Senator representing Zamfara North Senatorial District, Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, has said that the nation owed late Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi National honours for living an exemplary life as a public servant and a politician, who desired nothing short of a United and progressive Nigeria.
In an interview with DAILY POST in Abuja, Kaura recalled that late Shinkafi, while taking to politics after his public service as the Director General of the defunct National Security Organisation (NSO) aspired for Presidency of the country and that made him to spread establish his link across the width and breath of the nation where he virtually became interested in the welfare of every geopolitical zones of the country.

"I recalled that late Marafan Sokoto for purposes of political interest became committed to the welfare of all geopolitical zones of the country, particularly Nigeria's unity, unfortunately, his aspiration to Presidency remained unfulfilled dreams", Kaura recalled.

He urged politicians to learn from the good virtues of the late political icon, stressing that Shinkafi was never involved in unwholesome political practices.

In a sponsored motion on the floor of the Senate which was sustained, Kaura sought for the Immortalisation of the departed Marafan Sokoto by Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States as well as the federal government, adding that such would encourage those occupying positions of authority to be committed to the unity of the nation.
