TV shows donate medical equipment to hospitals to fight coronavirus

With many TV shows halting production because of the coronavirus, a handful of medical series have lent their masks, gloves, and other equipment to local hospitals.

FOX's The Resident donated boxes of masks, gloves, and gowns to medical workers in Atlanta, while The Good Doctor and Station 19 will help with supply demand in Canada, Entertainment Weekly reports.

News about The Resident's donation arrived in the form of an Instagram post from Karen Law, who works at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

"Yesterday, I had a serious discussion with the residents about how, though supplies are low, a magical shipment of masks is unlikely to arrive," Law wrote in a post thanking The Resident's team. "And yet, a magical shipment of masks DID arrive, in the form of this very generous gesture."

As coronavirus spreads and slams hospital workers, they are faced with an inevitable shortage of supplies for medical personnel, as well as patient resources like beds and ventilators. These along with actual coronavirus test kits will be critical in the coming weeks and months as the virus continues to spread.
