The incident happened at Abesan estate, Ipaja, Lagos. The suspect had gone to Ayomide's crèche to pick him, while posing as his uncle. However, the boy was running away from him. This made the management send Dimeji out.
Undeterred, the suspect insisted on taking the boy away, prompting the owner of the crèche to go in search of Ayomide's dad. Fortunately, she found the singer's brother and that was how the bubble burst.
Dimeji was subsequently nabbed and a voodoo ring was found on him with many incisions on his body. He was beaten in order to extract some information from him and later taken to the Alagolo police station.
