Redeemed Church Pastor Sent to Prison for Stealing in Lagos

A top self acclaimed senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of Nigeria, Ilewe parish in Ejigbo area of Lagos, Pastor Godwin Tobi Adeeyo has landed in trouble after he allegedly tempered with more N650,000 depositors money entrusted to him by his employer, according to a report by PM Express.

It was gathered tha the Ondo State-born Adeeyo, a graduate of Chemistry from the Adekunle Ajasin University was employed by PMG Financial Cooperative Company as a marketer and credit officer before he allegedly perpetrated the act.

The pastor perpetrated the act by tampering with the customers money to the tune of the said amount hoping that the company will not know.

However, when the company carried out an internal audit, the management discovered the fraud and summoned Adeeyo to explain what happened but he was unable to give a convincing explanation.

The management then reported the matter and handed him over to the police at Ejigbo Division for investigation. Some of the customers Adeeyo had collected money from came to the police station and testified against him. At that point he then admitted that he had collected the money from the customers but converted it to his personal use.

He was asked to refund the money but he claimed that he had spent all and as such had no money to refund. Adeeyo was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for stealing.

He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe granted Adeeyo bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum. The court also ordered that the sureties must deposit N50,000 with the Chief Registrar before the bail will be perfected.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
