A pimp jailed for hiring out underage girls for sex has been revealed as a girl of just Sixteen.
Jelinajane Bedrijo Almario was arrested for trafficking young girls to much older men in California in May 2016.
By the time the case came to court, she could be tried as an adult for human trafficking, sending threatening emails to a family member of at least one of the girls and making terrorist threats.
Now 18, she has been jailed for 13 years, the Fresno Bee reported. The newspaper said she was sentenced on Monday in Kings County Superior Court, two days after her birthday.
A court heard how Almario would post pictures of the young girls on different websites for prostitution.
She would then take the girls to motels off Highway 99 in Tulare County, Hanford police Detective Richard Pontecorvo said.
He added that the teenager's sex ring consisted of four girls, all aged between 14 and 15.
He told the newspaper: "These girls would run away for weekends or work a couple of nights."
Almario found the girls through friends or acquaintances and social media.
"These people are great at locating kids with low self-esteem and trying to be their friend, and then it obviously changes once they started working for her," said Det. Pontecorvo.
