England international fined after being spotted having haircut without mask

Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho was on Friday, June 5, fined for getting a haircut, which was contrary to the strict anti-coronavirus rules in Germany.

The 20-year old had the haircut in his house, but it was still in breach of strict guidelines which were put forward as the Bundesliga resumed on May 16.

A statement released by Bundesliga authorities stated Sancho, alongside his team-mate Manuel Akanji were in violation of general hygiene and infection protection standards.

Borussia Dortmund however defended its players, insisting they had not breached any rules.

Trouble followed Sancho when he and his team mate shared a photo of their fresh cut on social media.

The photo, showed Sancho in the hands of a barber without a mask on, something considered a serious violation of hygiene rules.

The 20-year old however defended himself through Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc who claimed safety procedures were followed and he only took the mask off to take a picture.

The league's DFL however decided to punish the players anyway since the photo was considered enough evidence that they had engaged in risky activity without personal protective equipment.

"There is no question that professional footballers also have to have their hair cut. However, this currently has to be done in accordance with the medical-organisational concept." the DFL said in a statement.

As the Bundesliga aims to wrap up the season, extra caution has been taken to ensure the coronavirus does not disrupt proceedings once again.

Players, staff and match officials are subjected to regular tests with any positive individual being guided to isolation for at least seven days.
