Just in: Liverpool confirm first signing of the summer and he's of Nigerian descent

Remi Savage becomes Liverpool's first summer signing after the Premier League club confirmed that the 18-year-old has put pen on paper for his first professional contract.

Savage joined the club's Academy as an U9 player and was a regular last season for the U18s.

He was born in the Liverpool city and was part of the Liverpool U19 UEFA Youth League squad and the U21 Leasing.com Trophy team, while also progressing to starts for the U23s.

It was gathered that the teenager reads the game very well and can also play from the left back.

In 2019, Remi was part of the club's victorious FA Youth Cup squad after the dramatic penalty shootout victory over Manchester City in the final.

On the other hand, rivals Arsenal have reportedly completed the signing of 19-year-old George Lewis to make him the club's first summer deal, GOAL reports.

The Gunners are desperate in bolstering the squad in the next months despite having a very tight budget, as new manager Mikel Arteta wants to return the team to winning ways.

Details of the deal were made public by youth blogger, Jeorge Bird, who claimed that the Fram Larvik youngster was penned down after a superb performance during trials in March.

Reports have it that the winger will team up with the clubs U23 side when at the start of next season. Born in Rwanda, he is also eligible to play for Norway at the senior national team level.
