Drama as Ighalo set to leave Manchester United in 24 hours except 1 strange thing happens

With barely 24 hours left on his loan deal with Manchester United, Nigeria's Odion Ighalo could be leaving the Old Trafford club unless a late dramatic deal is reached.

The Nigerian star joined the Premier League giants on deadline day during the January transfer and has shunned critics by scoring four goals in his eight appearances.

Ighalo's impact at the club was marred by lack of football due to the coronavirus crisis and a loan extension or permanent deal is yet to be reached.

The former Watford man was spotted smiling as he arrived at Manchester United training complex on Friday morning, May 29, amidst talks about his loan extension.

The 30-year-old's initial six months loan deal expires on Sunday, May 31, but the club hope they can be given permission to keep him until the elongated season end.

Shanghai Shenhua have reportedly lowered their expectations for the former Super Eagles star as they are now considering allowing the forward stay beyond his temporary stay, but so far nothing has been concluded.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear he wants the former Watford man to stick around until the end of the season.

BBC Sport are reporting that there are ongoing talks between the Chinese club and Manchester United, but they must reach a compromise ahead of the Sunday, May 31 deadline.

He is currently tied down at the Chinese club until December 2022 and has been offered a £400,000-a-week deal to return to the Chinese Super League.
