Taiwo Awoniyi has scored his first goal of the season as Mainz came back from a two-goal deficit to draw at FC Koln.

The Bundesliga season after over a two-month break due to the global pandemic as matchday 26 matches were played across all centers in Germany.

Koln took the lead from the penalty spot after just six minutes from Mark Uth to put the home side on the advantage.

Florian Kainz then doubled the lead in the 53rd minute as Koln were 2-0 up and looking to earn all three points.

But Nigerian U-23 international came in the 56th minute for Korean winger Won Ji to add more attacking options for Achim Beierlorzer's side.

And five minutes later, Awoniyi was at the end of a well-worked goal from his teammates as he tapped in from close range from a Bote Baku's low cross from the right.

The comeback was complete in the 72nd minute as Pierre Kunde leveled matter from a Jerry St. Juste's assist as it ended 2-2 at the empty RheinEnergieSTADION.

Mainz are now four points above the relegation zone and Koln maintained tenth position with nine matches left to play.
