German league return in controversy with red card and a goal scored inside 4 minutes

Bundesliga 2 restarted in the most dramatic of fashions on Saturday, May 16, 2020, after there was a goal and a red card in the first four minutes one of the first games.

The game involved Bundesliga 2 sides Erzgebirge Aue and Sandhausen, who treated fans at home to some typical football drama.

No sooner had the game began than Sandhusen's Dennis Diekmeier received his marching orders for a professional foul on an opponent.

The resulting penalty was converted by Dimitrij Nazarov who gave Erzgebirge Aue a deserved 1-0 lead.

Top flight football action from Germany is also set to follow the Bundesliga 2 on Saturday, May 16 with Borussia Dortmund's clash against Schalke among the games kicking off proceedings.

The Bundesliga is experiencing one of the most hotly contested title races in recent times, as league leaders Bayern Munich only lead rivals Dortmund by a mere four points.


Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach are also set to have a say in the title race as they follow in third and fourth respectively.

Germany becomes the first top-five leagues in Europe to resume sporting activities amid stringent measures.

Balls are being disinfected, while the games are all expected to be played behind closed doors as cautionary measures against the coronavirus.
