EPL soon-to-be richest club set to hire ex-Spurs manager and make him 3rd highest paid coach

There are reports that Mauricio Pochettino has been made the number one target for the managerial role as Saudi consortium awaits full takeover of Premier League club Newcastle United.

SunSport reports that the prospective new owners who are eyeing the manager are ready to pay him £19million a year to take charge of the club which will make him the third highest paid manager in the world.

It was also gathered that if the deal for Poch fails, the club are ready to bring back former Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez.

Recall that the tactician left his role as Spurs' manager in November 2019, it was gathered that he is now keen on returning to the Premier League as he is said to be interested in the Newcastle deal.

Current manager Steve Bruce will remain as manager until the end of the current campaign, although it remains unclear as to when that will be.

The likelihood is that the Argentine would take charge once the season has concluded.

No decision from Pochettino or the Saudi-backed consortium is expected before the Premier League determines whether to allow the £300m takeover of the club from Mike Ashley.

Newcastle's prospective owners are reportedly planning to overhaul the entire team as reports say the club are already shopping for players.

It was gathered that PSG forward Edinson Cavani and Napoli striker Dries Mertens on the radar.

ESPN is reporting that the Magpies are already in talks with the agents of Cavani and Mertens.

Also, it was gathered that the potential owners are also interested in Chelsea's Brazilian winger Willian, but they believe it would be tough to get any of the trio.
