Big trouble for Chelsea as Barca set to deny them a chance to sign Brazilian star this summer

Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho could return to his parent club Barcelona at the end of the season contrary to the club's plan.

The Catalans have been looking out for potential buyer for the 27-year-old who struggled to blend in his first 18 months at the Camp Nou.

He has been on loan at Bayern Munich since the start of the 2019-20 season and has scored nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across competitions.

However, it appears no club is willing to meet Barca's valuation for the Liverpool man who joined the La Liga defending champions in a record fee of £142 million in January 2018.

According to The Mirror, Coutinho was signed to replace Andres Iniesta but he has failed to fill the shoes of the legendary midfielder.

Bayern have an option to make his loan deal permanent but the German champions will rather look the other way until his temporary stay expires.

Since then, the likes of Chelsea and even his former club Liverpool and Newcastle United are said to have shown interest in the forward.

The current situation will now leave Barcelona chiefs to bring the player back to Camp Nou once the season is over.

Another reason the La Liga defending champions may find it difficult to find a buyer for their player is the impact caused all teams by the outbreak of deadly coronavirus.

Leagues all over have been on suspension since the middle of last month and some like France and Netherlands have canceled the 2019-20 season already.
