Coronavirus: UEFA makes clarification as WHO reveals when football will likely return

The Union of European Football Association (UEFA) has categorically denied that the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended to them that all international competitions be suspended until the end of 2021 season.

We had earlier reported that WHO, during a conference with UEFA this week, reportedly said all matches should be put on hold until at least, the end of next season.

This is not unconnected to the increasing cases of COVID-19 across the globe.

There are over 2 million confirmed cases recorded globally since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out last December in Wuhan, China.

However, reacting to the development, a spokesperson for UEFA told Independent UK: "This is not correct.

"WHO never recommended that football should no longer be played until the end of 2021."

Recall that all major football leagues, including the Premier League, have been suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
