Chelsea eyeing shock deal for Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea are monitoring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future at Arsenal with Frank Lampard keen on signing the Gabon international.

The 30-year-old is out of contract in 2021 and he's rejected two proposals from Arsenal over an extension.

Aubameyang last played Champions League football in 2017 and the Gunners look unlikely to qualify in the top four this term.

Barcelona are interested in signing Aubameyang and Arsenal would reluctantly agree to a deal of around £50m, particularly in the current financial climate.

Manchester United have also been keeping an eye on Aubameyang but Bleacher Report claim Chelsea are the latest interested party.

Lampard joined Chelsea under full knowledge that he would be operating under a transfer ban last summer and the Blues failed to make a signing in January once it was lifted.

Ajax star Hakim Ziyech is set to join in the summer and Lampard will be given significant funds to invest in other areas of the side.

He is keen on signing a world class centre forward and believes that Aubameyang possesses all the necessary qualities to play at Stamford Bridge.

Crucially, it looks like Chelsea will be able to offer the Gabon star Champions League football.
