Tension at Anfield as highly influential player set to dump Liverpool after Klopp's unfair treatment

Reigning African Player of the year Sadio Mane might be leaving Liverpool after helping them win the Premier League this season.

The Senegalese forward was said to have been furious with the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp following his decision to back teammate Virgil van Dijk to win the Ballon d'Or award last year.

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi clinched the prestigious prize - beating his arch-rival, Cristiano Ronaldo and the Dutchman in the final three.

Mane and Mohamed Salah made up the top five players in the world according to the award owing to their contributions to Liverpool's Champions League triumph.

Since he joined the Merseyside outfit from Southampton in a deal around £34 million in 2016, he has scored 77 goals in 161 appearances and has fired them to be favourites for the EPL title this term.

Meanwhile, Daily Star quoting France Football reports that the winger is considering a move away from Anfield over the manager's actions.

It would be recalled that Mane alongside Salah and Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang jointly finished top goal scorers in the EPL last season and they were all presented the awards.

Van Dijk, on the other hand, was crowned the UEFA Men's Player of the Year having won the PFA Player of the Year for his 2018/19 efforts.

The Dutchman finished behind Messi but the German-born tactician stood by his star defender to win it.

"Last season I cannot remember a more impressive season from a defender ever. Honestly," he said.

"So it would have been right if Virg won it. The Senegalese felt bittered with the comments and Daily Star believes the forward is now ready to dump the club.
