Man United Legend names 5 players who impressed him the most at Old Trafford

Former Arsenal and Man United star Robin van Persie has taken time to detail his time at the Red Devils by highlighting players who impressed him most during his stay at Old Trafford.

Van Persie made a sensational switch to United from rivals Arsenal in the summer of 2012 and went on to establish himself as integral squad member under then manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

He found the back of the net 26 times in his first Premier League season in a red shirt, helping the club to win the league title that campaign.

During his time with the Manchester club, the Dutch legend had the privilege to play alongside the best EPL stars including Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.

But speaking to So Foot in a recent exclusive interview, the 36-year-old admitted it was difficult to single out some of the best players he played alongside as each of them was good in their own nature.

"It's hard to answer because most of them were impressive in their own style," he said.

He, however, went on to list veteran defenders Nemanja Matic, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra in the list of players who impressed him.

"[Nemanja] Vidic was a warrior. He put his head where normally it's scary to do so.

He did anything to win. Ferdinand, he was more 'elegant', comfortable with the ball, strong in aerial play, good in long play," RVP observed. England legend Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs also made the list.

"[Ryan] Giggs was the flamboyant player, always giving the impression of being in his comfort zone.

Still in great shape at 39! He did yoga and lived football all the time.

Rooney was impressive in his own style too. Also Patrice Evra," he continued.

Despite his otherwise impressive spell at Old Trafford, Van Persie did endure tumultuous times after the exit of Ferguson.

He went on to sign for Turkish giants, Fenerbahce in 2015 where he spent three seasons before to returning to boyhood side, Feyenoord, where he retired last summer.
