Juventus players and manager Maurizio Sarri have agreed with the club chiefs to take a four-month pay cut that will help the club save £80m.

The pay cut means Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo could be sacrificing more than £9m in wages as other members of the team will take pay cut proportionate to their income.

Juventus revealed this in a statement made available on Saturday, March 28. The statement read: "The economic and financial effects of the understanding reached are positive for about €90m for the 2019/2020 financial year.

"The understanding provides for the reduction of the compensation for an amount equal to the monthly payments of March, April, May and June 2020.

Personal agreements with Sarri and the players will be finalised in the coming weeks." Italy has been the most affected nation with the coronavirus pandemic as the country's death toll is now the highest in the world at 10,023.

With 92,472 confirmed cases, Italy has the highest death rate and even worse when compared to China, the epicenter of the pandemic, which has 81,997 confirmed cases, but with death toll at 3,299.

Meanwhile, Juventus have three players that have test positive for Covid-19. They are Paulo Dybala, Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi.
