Jose Mourinho set to deny former club Man United chance to sign top-rated superstar

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly joined the chase for the signature of Inter Milan star Diego Godin.

The 34-year-old joined the Italian League giants in July 2019 on a free transfer after his contract with the Spanish club expired at the end of last season.

According to SunSport, Mourinho made attempts to sign Godin while at United but failed to reach an agreement with the player.

The Portuguese-born tactician is now ready to make another move for the veteran defender who is also wanted by the Red Devils.

Although, Mourinho was said to be upset with Godin after using United's move to sign an improved deal with Atletico back then.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss is now hoping to lure the player whose contract with Inter expires in the summer of 2022.

Meanwhile, with Serie A suspended indefinitely due to the spread of deadly coronavirus, Mourinho is looking to fortify his team believing they can still finish among top teams.

The north Londoners have not kept a clean sheet in all of their last eight matches and they have been dumped out of the Champions League already.

However, it is unsure if the player will see out his contract in Italy despite featuring in 16 Serie A matches out of the 25 games that have been prosecuted.

And his manager Antonio Conte would not stand in his way if he chooses to quit the club barely one year after joining them.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also eyeing the player and could end up luring him to Old Trafford after Mou's magic wand failed to do the job.

Man United are looking for a quality partner for Harry Maguire and may look to swoop in for Godin a second time to bolster their ranks at the back.

Eric Bailly's return to fitness has given the Norwegian another option at the back having played Victor Lindelof for much of this campaign.
