Fans attack Arsenal legend after making weird statement about coronavirus (this is what he said)

The Arsenal legend Jens Lehmann suffered heavy criticisms on Twitter when he made an attempt to question the mode of advice and health guidelines for the fight against coronavirus.

The former goalkeeper had queried the reason for the total shut down of activities due to the global pandemic which he says it is unbelievable.

Number of confirmed cases of the virus has risen to about 220,000 while about 9,900 have lost their lives to the epidemic.

As a result, several countries have banned public gatherings while sporting activities have been put to a halt across the globe.

However in his reaction, Lehmann challenged the advice of shutting down saying mortality rate is lower compared to what happened in previous years.

"This is difficult to believe now," he wrote.

"The mortality rate is lower than in previous years across Europe, based on data until 8. March 2020.

"So let's wait until the end of this week for new data. What if we cause more damage to the well-being of people by shutting down everything?

"Is it better staying home, being quarantined, losing the job now or the existence of a successful business?

"Will there be more people getting sick because of huge financial problems than through the virus? Who can answer that?"

However, fans on Twitter did not react positively to his tweet.

One person said on Twitter : "No offence, you're a cracking bloke but stick to the goalkeeping on this one."

Another added: "Better stick to football."

One complained: "You should just shut up about pandemics and especially measures against them."

Lehmann spent five seasons at Arsenal and has 199 appearances. His former club has been severally affected by the disease.
